Details of the trip
We have been receiving requests, specially from foreign clients, to organize longer packages to photograph Iberian lynx in Peñalajo-Aprisco, to justify the long trip to Spain and to be able to enjoy more time in the field.
Therefore we have launched for 2024 a special photography tour from August 12th to August 18th, 5 full days of effective work for a maximum of 10 people.
The tour will be guided by Antonio Liébana Navarro and will include special services such as technical talks, batches of local products, lunches in the field or guided visited at midday, out of the working schedule with the lynxs.
The Iberian lynx is one of the most beautiful felines in the world and it is considered as endangered.
Its critical situation made impossible a few years ago to legally plan a photography workshop such as this one with the lynx as the main goal.
Luckily, thanks to the “Iberlince” project and the compromise and implication of different administrations, landowners, and NGO´s, the conservation status of the species has improved a lot in the last decade. Its population has grown in a truly promising way, and we have seen the land they occupy grow 3 times bigger.
Peñalajo is one of the large estates that has recently recovered its lynxes, and thanks to the high density of rabbits and partridges it is home to, the lynx population has spectacularly grown in a very short time.
The acres of land that the Peñalajo project manages actually keeps 4 different breeding areas with a total of 16 different lynxes identified through clients photographs and the trap cameras equipment.
A dozen of double hides with the goal of photographing lynx were installed and they have shown a great efficiency every single season. Wildwatching Spain is continuously making the necessary adjustments to the hides to keep them in the best conditions to achieve the best photography results possible.
Important note: If any client due to any circumstance does not obtain any images of Iberian lynx, he or she would be invited by Peñalajo-Aprisco to return whenever possible for a private session.
